The garden was inspired by Ella Christie's visit to Japan in the early years of the 20th century. A 7 acre site in the grounds of Cowden Castle was turned into a unique and authentic bridge between Scottish and Japanese culture. The garden has attracted individuals such as the novelist Annie S. Swan and H.R.H. Queen Mary. The garden was seriously vandalised in the 1960s but has been restored piece by piece into today's magnificent spectacle. The speaker is an outstanding communicator and the photographs are breathtaking.
Come along and hears the garden's story - we are sure that will lead to a visit!
As always - tea, coffee and themed home baking will be on offer before the start and the evening is rounded off with our raffle - where participants often do not want to win - given some of the prizes.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
