The best bass soloist I’ve heard at his age - ever!” - that’s how Tommy Smith describes Ewan Hastie.
The multi-award winning musician and composer is fast making his mark on the UK music scene after becoming the first Scot to win the BBC Young Jazz Musician in 2022.
His trio will feature some of Scotland’s finest musicians, Paul Harrison on piano and Chun-Wei Kang on drums.
Ewan is delighted to be returning to his home town of Kirkcaldy with his own trio following appearances with Ben Shankland and Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra at last year's Langtoun Jazz Festival
Now only 21 years old, left handed double bassist Ewan Hastie won BBC Young Jazz Musician 2022, being the first Scottish musician to win the award. He also recently received the Mark McKergow Prize for Jazz Improvisation twice in 2022 and again in 2023. Ewan also won the "Best Instrumentalist" Award 2023 hosted by the Scottish Jazz Awards
