The 18th century was Golden Age. This lecture will trace the architectural development of the country house from the Baroque to the Palladian and will look at the paintings and sculptures. We will see how country houses were planned and furnished.
Barbara Peacok is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She has 35 years' lecturing experiens and is a freelance lecturer throughout the UK and abaord for many organisations including the Arts Society and the National Trust. She also organises art and architectural tours in the UK and abroad.
Previously a lecturer for Birmingham University Department of Extra-Mural Studies and tutor in Fine Art Department of Continuing Education at Southampton University. She has worked as Assistant Keeper of Fine Art at the Birmingham City Art Gallery. Much invovled in the preservation of the architectural heritage of Czch land, she has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Czech government and the Points of Light Award from Theresa May when she was the UK Prime Minister.

Our membership fee for our 2023/24 lecture series is £55 for a single membership and £100 for joint membership.
Other events are optional extras.
All are welcome.
Visitors to a lecture are invited to leave a suggested donation of £8.
