Described as a “love letter to amateur dramatics”, this comedy is about a small town trying to save their theatre from developers. In order to boost audiences, they seek a celebrity to perform with them in King Lear and are surprised when a faded A-list actor from Hollywood turns up. His monstrous ego, vanity and insecurity are tested to the limit but as ever in theatre – the show must go on. It is a comedy packed with killer comic dialogue from the pen of Ian Hislop (Private Eye, Have I got News for You) with plenty of twists and turns.
Running time: 2h 30m including interval
