During lockdown Community-focused Initiative Edinburgh Shoreline suggested people visit a local square kilometre of the Firth of Forth Coast and respond to it artistically on a 40cm square of calico which was supplied to them.
One hundred and eighty-four people around the Forth embroidered, stitched, glued, printed and painted their responses and feelings.
This exhibition in the Scottish Fisheries Museum showcases squares made by people living in Fife reflecting places that they know and love. The attached explanations from each participant capture the extraordinary range of motivations and connections, complex history and diverse wildlife.
You can learn how this triggered the ambitious 'Restoration Forth' partnership which is reintroducing oysters and seagrass to the Firth.

If you would like to contribute to the exhibition, two needle felting workshops will be led by one of the Forthline artists, Jennie Loudon, at the museum on 29th June and 22nd July.
A linked exhibition – displaying some of the other Forthline squares that focus on the Forth’s birds - is on display on the Isle of May until the end of September.
There are daily sailings to the Isle of May from Anstruther: www.isleofmayferry.com and www.isleofmayboattrips.co.uk
