Restless Natives is a 1985 Scottish adventure comedy cult film directed by Michael Hoffman. Starring Ned Beatty, Vincent Friell, and Joe Mullaney the film follows two Edinburgh youths, Ronnie, manager of a joke shop, and Will, latterly a corporation street cleaner, who decide to brighten their drab lives by becoming highwaymen.
Wearing carnival masks, they hold-up tourist coaches in the Highlands of Scotland, distributing the haul to the local needy. The modern-day Rob Roys soon become heroes and begin to attract the attention of the international media, making their forays into the Highlands a carnival procession of police cars and TV crews. It also results in a staggering increase in the local tourist trade.
Restless Natives had a 12A Certificate
