To celebrate the first six months since the launch of the world’s finest arranger keyboard, Yamaha Music Europe are holding a series of all-day events in collaboration with the cream of the UK’s Keyboard Clubs and Societies. Some of the days will also be held in conjunction with local and national charities, giving opportunity for the Keyboard Clubs to spread the passion throughout their neighbourhoods and communities. Our hope is to raise awareness of music-making at home, whilst also benefiting the local community.
The day will be hosted by Yamaha’s own Paul Thirkettle and Richard Bower. Paul & Richard have years of experience in the keyboard world and are renowned for making their shows fun and entertaining. So regardless of your keyboard knowledge – from zero to hero – you’ll have a brilliant day in their company!
The first Yamaha Genos2 Discovery Day will be held with our friends at FEOS in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. The event will be held on Wednesday, 26th June, with the first Discovery workshop starting at 14:00. The second workshop session will commence at 15:30, and the Evening Show will start at the normal time of 19:00.
The venue is the Salvation Army Community Church on Hayfield Road, Kirkcaldy. KY2 5DG.
The Discovery Day will be held in collaboration with the Salvation Army, along with the FEOS designated charity for the day, Alzheimer Scotland - Action on Dementia.
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. Their aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. They provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, and campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research. FEOS are proud to have delegates from Alzheimer Scotland - Action on Dementia with them throughout the event.
The afternoon events will comprise two hour-long “Backstage” workshops, where Paul and Richard will take you on a journey of discovery to enable you to learn more about Genos2, and how to get the most from this amazing instrument. Whilst the sessions will use Genos2 specifically, everyone is welcome to come along as there will be something of interest for everyone! Whether you are already a Genos2 owner, you are interested in trading up, or you just love music in general, you’ll have a really enjoyable afternoon in the company of Paul, Richard and the Genos2.
The Discovery Day will conclude with an evening show featuring the Genos2 “in concert” with Paul and Richard. (There may even be some duets!) This is where the magic really comes to life, as Paul and Richard will play a huge variety of musical styles. Paul loves his Big Band and Latin music, and Richard is a master of the 60’s and movie scores. They’ll play a wide range of music from Classics to Pop Hits, stopping off every now and again to partake in their usual banter and fun. No two shows are ever the same, and that’s what makes it so special!
FEOS is famous throughout the keyboard circuit as “the friendly club” and as such their legendary Scottish hospitality will be in full action. FEOS plan to have food and drinks available throughout the afternoon and evening, along with a “soup & snacks” meal before the evening show.
Regular concert-goers will already know that FEOS members bring along provisions for the Salvation Army Food Bank. This is a very important aspect of FEOS collaboration with the Salvation Army in Kirkcaldy. Your donations on the day will be hugely appreciated.
Admission is £10 for the day, which includes teas and coffees. Your donations to cover the cost of food are welcome.
So, whether you are a Yamaha owner, you are interested in keyboards in general, you are someone who loves music in general, or you are just wishing to help our chosen charity, please do come along. There’ll be great music, good chat, lots of laughs and some tasty refreshments. The day is for everyone, and we look forward to seeing as many people there as possible.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
