Bristol Fire School is the South West’s hottest cookery school with one overriding aim – to help people ‘Do Fire Better’. This is way we just had to have Genevieve upto Scotland to do a class with a Scottish Twist!
Gen thinks to cook great food over fire you need to know how to light, control and work with the fire. Fire management is absolutely fundamental to success, the foundations of everything. Master this, and it just becomes cooking. And you can cook, right? Everyone is welcome at Auldton Stoves Cook School, this is a machismo-free space in which to learn and enjoy fire, and most importantly, cook something great to share. Fire cooking may be a male dominated craft but women light brilliant fires. Fire is the original cooking tool, going back many thousands of years, and women were the ones who did the cooking. This comes naturally to us. Trust us. Its also worth pointing out that Fire School is not just about learning to cook great big hunks of meat, nice as they are – this will be a well rounded omnivorous experience. Gen is well known for her love of vegetables but there will be meat too, good meat, cooked well with a drink in hand.
Kamado ceramic oven section, exploring how to make the most of these amazingly versatile bits of kit.
– fundamentals of how kamado ovens work, what fuel to use, how to fire them up- how to master the art of temperature control- low and slow meat and classic direct-heat grilling- smoking, what wood to use- lots of glorious vegetable dishes, this is not just meat!- baking puddings and simple breads
Note, ‘kamado’ is the name of style of oven, not the brand Kamado Joe (although we will be cooking on Kamado Joe’s) and this class is relevant to any kamado style oven regardless of brand.
FIRE COOKING FUNDAMENTALS – Taking it from the beginning, this class will really get the fire cooking foundations right. You may have been cooking over fire for years but feel you have never been in control of the fire, or you may have little fire cooking experience and want to start with the right set of skills. Either way, you will learn loads, eat loads, and leave feeling like a confident cook bursting with new enthusiasm for live fire cooking.
