As part of Cambo Estate's Snowdrop Festival 2024, the Old Kitchen has been reinvented as a performance space for a series of live gigs.
The evening will begin with an hour of open-mic style floor spots for local performers, followed by dinner (ticket price includes soup), culminating with a set from folk singer-songwriter Samantha Whates.
Scottish singer-songwriter and Rough Trade Records recording artist Samantha Whates is a hugely respected figure on the London folk & roots scene. Her beautifully crafted, poetic songs retain a strong affinity with her Scottish roots, cultivating a sound that is thoroughly contemporary, rooted in tradition, yet uniquely her own.

“The most beautiful album...” Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2
Her debut album Dark Nights Make For Brighter Days enjoyed both critical acclaim and extensive radio play (BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, KCRW, Resonance FM). Samantha’s new album Waiting Rooms, recorded entirely on location in various waiting rooms around the UK, is out now on Wonderfulsound.

Samantha recently signed to Rough Trade Records with her new band PicaPica; they released an EP ‘Spring & Shade’ in late 2018 and followed with their debut LP ‘Together & Apart’ summer 2019.
