Cardenden Village Fair will be taking place on 31 August 2025. We aim to bring awareness, together with a wide variety of organisations, agencies, businesses and charities helping them raise funds as well as having an entertaining fun day.
We are staying with our theme of "Volunteering". Unfortunately, Pam Bennett – local area co-ordinator is unable to join us, but we continue to encourage you give your support to Fife Voluntary Actions (FVA). We’ve left up a little information on our website.
This year we are adding and bringing attention to local groups Cardenden Walking Group and Cardenden Environmental Group.
Cardenden Walking Group have been established since 2013, and they are a friendly group who meet every Thursday for a walk of around 5/6 miles. They participate in path maintenance activities around the village through organised volunteer days. Elaine, who I spoke with briefly on the phone told me they have an exciting new project that the children can get involved in that they are working on, and we’d love the children to visit their stall to find out more. I don’t want to give out too much, but it made my eyes light up!
Cardenden Environment Group, everyone must surely smile walking around the village this summer admiring all the flowering baskets and tubs. They have been bulb planting, placing frog spawn in running and still water, erecting Remembrance poppy displays with the youth club, Community Garden planting and for the winter, making applications and raising funds for our Cardenden Christmas lights we all enjoy. Please go visit Linda and the group and see how you can be involved or support.
If you run a local group, please do get in touch and let us know how we can add you to our event! We are very grateful for all our community groups who work hard all year round. And we are delighted to be able to give them a place to showcase what they do.
On the field:
I’m delighted that Melville Equestrian will be joining us again providing pony rides – they have been very popular over the last few years, and their ponies are adorable!
Our Face painter this year is Lyndsay-Pie’s Facepaints! We are delighted to have Lyndsay join us! We will also have a Glitter Tattoo artist Lauren’s Sparkle Station. We look forward to them both being a part of our event for the first time.
We have a wonderful list of crafters/local businesses you are sure to want to come back to for your gift lists. Links will be on our website. It is always lovely to see familiar faces and we are very lucky to have this warm community of long term returning stalls.
This year we’ve had a little turnaround regarding shows and attractions – we will be having The Bouncy Castle Man join us bringing a new world of inflatables for all ages. There will be something for everybody, and you can buy a wristband directly from The Bouncy Castle Man on the day allowing multiple turns on activities to enjoy throughout our event.
In our entertainment ring - we will be joined by our very own Bowhill Karate Club, George with the Kirkcaldy & District Pipe Band; and the very wonderful and very talented young dancers who have been joining us the last few years -
Danielle Law School of Dance & Music - Highland Dancers.
Between entertainment slots there will be lots more fun with the children's races. Kindly organised by John Gilfillan. John has always made our day special!
We have invited Think Circus to join us – they are “Edinburgh's social circus, improving confidence and happiness for children and young people with their fun and accessible circus workshops and performances.” We will have one performer who will be conducting workshops and will also put on a slot in our entertainment ring. This attraction is weather dependent.
1192 (Kirkcaldy) Sqn Air Cadets will be giving us a demonstration drill. Alongside this, there will be a demonstration of Morse and Radio Communications with Glenrothes & District Amateur Radio Club.
So, we look forward to inviting you all to enjoy food & ice-cream and lots of fun!
Entry to the park is free but inflatables, ponies, face painting, all crafts, charities and vendors will have individual charges to take part.
Toilet facilities for the event – access kindly provided by the Bowling Club (nearest) and Bowhill Community Centre. There will be a First Aid tent in situ, and our DJ Kenny will make regular announcements.
Many thanks to Rosemary Wallace and Scouts volunteers for all their help on setting up, providing hospitality to our entertainers and volunteers and help with clearing at the end!
Big thanks to all our kind sponsors too! We are grateful for the continued grant aid provided annually by Ventient Westfield Cardenden Community Fund administered by Foundation Scotland. Also, many thanks for Fife Council for a newly awarded grant towards our special day.
IN THE EVENT OF BAD WEATHER!!
We have a weather contingency plan for this year. If we should have to cancel, we will be placing our crafters and small businesses in Bowhill Community Centre and we will operate this as a Craft Fair – please come and join us, we will still have our Facepainter and any other entertainment attractions we can manage to work with inside.
For our charities we will place these at St Fothad’s Masonic Lodge Hall and lounge, Ore Road. The format will be slightly different from on the field, but we hope you can still raise funds towards your special causes. We ask our community to still make your way out and join the fun!
Please watch our Facebook page for any announcements and changes regarding this trial plan.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
