About Bowhill Highland Games

The Highland Games are events held in the village of Bowhill, Fife, Scotland.

Conveniently located across the road from Cardenden, around the corner from Auchterderran, and over thetrain tracks from Dondonald, the Bowhill Highland Games bring together the 4 villages into one great festival site for an afternoon of family friendly activities.

They include a combination of sports, culture, and community through the competetitive sports of Highland Dancing, Heavy Athletics, Races, and Bagpipes. These games have a rich history and are an integral part of Scottish heritage.

Highland Dancing:
Highland Dancing is a traditional form of Scottish dance that has been celebrated for centuries. It is characterized by intricate footwork, fast movements, and expressive gestures.

Heavy Athletics:
The Heavy Athletics competition includes events like the caber toss, weight throw, and hammer throw. These events showcase strength, precision, and skill.

Cycle and Running Races:
The Cycle and Running Races are thrilling and challenging races that test the speed and endurance of the participants. Both locals and visitors participate in these races, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Piping and Drumming:
Piping and Drumming are integral to the Highland Games, adding a musical and cultural element to the event. The stirring sounds of bagpipes and drums create a unique and unforgettable experience for attendees.
