This spring plant sale and open day will feature plant and craft stalls, egg painting, chocolate egg making, picnic lunches and spring walks featuring the garden's impressive collection of rhododendrons, magnolias and other spring-flowering gems - and there will be some other surprises. The original Botanic Garden was founded by the University of St Andrews in 1889 in the precincts of St Mary's College. Originally a small garden, it now covers 18.5 acres and not only provides a wonderful space in which to relax and enjoy its beauty and atmosphere, but is also a scientific garden for teaching and research.
Champion Trees: A number of rare species
Directions: The garden is located on Canongate and is a 10/15 minute walk from the centre of St Andrews. Follow the signs from the town down Viaduct walk, which is a shared path for bikes and walkers. The 99C bus route goes past the garden and takes 5 minutes from the bus stop in St Andrews.
