About StAnza21: A Tribute to Roddy Lumsden

Poets and friends celebrate the life and work of a son of St Andrews

Roddy Lumsden was born and raised in St Andrews. His poetry took him to Edinburgh and then to London and he became one of the UK’s leading poets. From his first collection, Yeah Yeah Yeah (Bloodaxe, 1997) to So Glad I’m Me (Bloodaxe 2017), his books were regularly shortlisted for all the major awards, including the Forward, the T.S. Eliot and the Saltire prizes. He read at the inaugural StAnza festival in 1998, and in 2002 his StAnza residency with the then St Andrews Bay Hotel resulted in a collection of poems, The Bubble Bride. Roddy’s untimely death in 2020 shocked his many friends and readers. Tribute events were planned but unable to take place due to the pandemic, and so StAnza are honoured to host this event, chaired by Andy Jackson, which will feature readings of some of Roddy’s poems, and tributes from friends.

This event will take place on Zoom.

In association with Bloodaxe Books

Participants: Andy Jackson and Past Poets 2021
