24 July 2025 - Pittenweem, Fife – Cambo is proud to present Contemporary Art & Creative Expression in Myanmar, a powerful exhibition showcasing the work of artists and artisans from Myanmar (Burma), at this year’s Pittenweem Arts Festival, running from August 2–9, 2025.
Curated by James Erskine, Director of Cambo House, who lived in Myanmar with his family from 2012 to 2019, the exhibition brings together a remarkable collection of contemporary Burmese art. It offers a rare and moving insight into the resilience, creativity, and courage of artists working under the constraints of an authoritarian regime.
This timely exhibition invites audiences to experience how art can respond to political and social realities—offering reflection, resistance, and ultimately, hope.
All works are available for sale, with proceeds going directly to the artists in Myanmar, helping to support creative voices in challenging times.

As part of the exhibition, we are delighted to host a special remote talk:
‘In Conversation with Pyay Way: Curating Freedom through Art in Myanmar’

The talk will be a remote online discussion with Pyay Way, acclaimed artist and founder of the Nawaday Tharlar Gallery in Yangon, with questions and answers from the audience. This will be delivered via Zoom using a speaker system and large screen. James Erskine, Director of Cambo House, will introduce and lead the discussion, sharing some of his own experiences in Myanmar, introducing Pyay who will explore how artists continue to express freedom, identity, and resistance through their work amid Myanmar’s shifting political landscape. All proceeds from the event will go to the DEC Myanmar Earthquake Appeal.
