TEE-RIFIC CHANCE TO PLAY IN CHARITY PRO-AM GOLF TOURNAMENT WITH SOME OF SCOTLAND’S BEST PGA PROFESSIONALS

Event at Scotscraig Golf Club to support The Archie Foundation

Scotscraig Golf Club in Tayport is “teeing” up a charity pro-am tournament that will give golfers the chance to play alongside the country’s leading professional golfers while raising money for The Archie Foundation.

Some of Scotland’s top golfers will be taking part in the fundraiser on Monday, August 25, ahead of the Scottish PGA Championship which will be held at Scotscraig from the following day.

As well as raising money to support Archie’s work in Tayside, there’s also the chance for one lucky golfer to win a car from Arnold Clark for securing a hole in one!

Booking is open now for teams to sign up – but with space for only 14 more teams, slots are selling fast.

The event is being sponsored by Ramsdens Currency and The Friendship Cup, which was started by former Utah State Governor Mike Leavitt and his brother Mark, to forge relationships between golfers from the US and Scotland by engaging in friendly competition both home and away each year.

Golfers will enjoy a reception and hearty full Scottish breakfast before heading on to the scenic golf course for a shotgun start at 10am.

A two-course lunch and drinks will be followed by a charity auction and presentation of prizes, hosted by MC and golfer Alan Tait, a former European Tour player.

Liam Greasley, manager of Scotscraig Golf Club, said: “We are honoured to be hosting this charity pro-am event here in North Fife to raise money for The Archie Foundation, which does such fantastic work supporting babies, children and families in Tayside and the wider north of Scotland.

“This pro-am is part of the Scottish PGA Championship and some of the top-ranked players will be joining our guests on the golf course, making up teams of four. We are grateful to our friends at The Friendship Cup and the PGA as well as Arnold Clark and Ramsdens Currency for supporting the event and allowing us to raise as much as possible for Archie.”

The full list of golf pros joining the event will be confirmed nearer the time but those taking part in the Scottish PGA Championship include Graeme Robertson (Glenbervie), 2023 and 2024 winner of the Scottish Professional Championship and defending champion; Alastair Forsyth (Mearns Castle Golf Academy), three-times winner on the European Tour and former Northern Open and 2022 Scottish Professional champion; Craig Lee (Craig Lee Golf Studio), 2024 PGA Professional champion, PGA Cup player and former European Tour player; and Paul O’Hara (Hamilton), winner of the 2025 PGA Playoffs, 2024 Arnold Clark Tartan Tour, 2019 PGA Scottish Professional champion and PGA Cup player.

Scotscraig’s PGA Club Professional, Cammy West, will also join the teams.

Rebecca Duncan, business development and fundraising manager Tayside at The Archie Foundation, encouraged teams to sign up quickly.

“The charity pro-am at Scotscraig Golf Club is an amazing opportunity for amateur golfers to spend the day with a professional and pick up some tips while raising money for The Archie Foundation! We have already had teams signing up and we’re looking forward to a fantastic day so if you’d like to get involved, please sign up now.

“Thank you to everyone at Scotscraig and all the partners for their invaluable support for our work making the difference to children and families when they need us most during a hospital visit or after a bereavement.”

The Friendship Cup is a charitable organisation which has a close relationship with North-east Fife, Perthshire and Angus.

Chair Mark Leavitt added: “We love visiting our friends in Scotland and are proud to be supporting this fundraising pro-am at Scotscraig, which we hope will raise a huge amount of money for The Archie Foundation.”

Teams cost £600 per group (three players plus a pro) with hole sponsorship also available for £200. To book, visit https://krill-papaya-xgzy.squarespace.com/scottishpgaproambooking

The Archie Foundation exists to transform experiences and outcomes in healthcare and bereavement for babies, children and families across North Scotland, including Dundee as well as Aberdeen, Elgin and Inverness.

Now in its 25th year, the charity’s vision is that all children in the region will have equal access to world-class healthcare and bereavement support, delivered in a child-appropriate environment and manner.
