This year’s FREE festival will be taking place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September and, as well as regular crowd favourites, will have a new addition – cocktail and mocktail masterclasses courtesy of Saint Judes in Glasgow, who will be bringing along their resident mixologist for classes, as well as providing their very own cocktail bar!
FREE cooking demos will be on each day, with Rohan Wadke hosting demos on Saturday and Sunday at 12pm, while Niall Murray will be hosting demos at 2pm each day.
We will also be hosting Wild Food and Medicine Walks on both days at 11am, 12.30pm and 3.30pm, hosted by Rox Madeira. Rox will show festival goers a different way to connect with Scotland, learning plant folklore, history of plant use and current usage during her 45-minute sessions. To buy tickets visit www.eventbrite.co.uk to avoid disappointment or, if places are available, you can join the sessions on the day. Rox will also be providing some of the ingredients for Niall’s chef demos and be on hand to answer any questions during the demo.
The fun ‘Shake it ‘til you make it’ cocktail and mocktail masterclasses hosted by Glasgow’s Saint Judes will be on both days and hosted by their resident mixologist. All masterclasses will be one hour long and the 11am one will feature mocktail making and is open to anyone aged 6 and up, while the 1pm and 3pm sessions will be cocktails so they’re 18 years and over. At only £5 for the mocktail sessions and £10 for the cocktail sessions, you can sip on two mocktails or cocktails, depending on the session, and have serious fun learning how to make your own! With a limited number of tickets available, we recommend you get yours quickly at www.eventbrite.com. However, if you miss out, it’s always worthwhile checking on the day to see if there are any tickets left. And, if you don’t score some tickets, you can always visit the St Jude cocktail bar and enjoy a delicious concoction!
And, of course no food and drink festival would be complete without lots and lots of amazing vendors featuring all sorts of tasty treats including cakes from Three Sisters Bake, Silly Cookie and a full Gluten-free selection from Big Daft Cakes, and lots more to suit everyone’s sweet tooth! O’Donnell Moonshine will be back with their fabulous Mason Jars filled with delicious flavours for mixing your own cocktails at home. There’s Gins, and liqueurs and Necropolis Spirits Rum. For beer lovers there’s Wild Barn Brewery and there's non-alcoholic options too, including the aptly-named Naesip drinks!
We have plenty of street food options to enjoy on-the-go, with Mama Del’s Filipino Food, gourmet sausages and burgers from Continental Catering, plus Mexican tacos and burritos, Greek Gyros, Japanese and Thai options, not to mention Haggis Galore with all things haggis, including Nachos, bon bons, loaded fries and even haggis burgers!
As well as all our amazing food and drink related activities, we also have Lomond Radio entertaining everyone all weekend long as well as a selection of very talented buskers around the site.
Family festival fun will also big this year, with children’s characters The Sanderson Sisters visiting us on Saturday while all weekend we’ll have children’s rides, stilt walkers and fun mascots added to our playpark, SEA LIFE centre, Treezone, Bird of Prey Centre and water sports, boat trips and boat hire so all the family can have a great day out!
Audrey Calder from Loch Lomond Shores comments: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming back our chefs, who always do such an amazing job in engaging with all our foodies and providing exciting recipes for them to go home and try themselves.
Also, to be welcoming Rox for her Wild Food and Medicine Walks and Saint Judes with their mocktail and cocktail masterclasses, is great as we love bringing new things to the festival for our regulars and offer even more for first time festival goers!”
