A new exhibition exploring the role, impact and legacy of women in art arrives at Kirkcaldy Galleries in 2027.
Women have made huge impacts on the development of British art. However, they have often been underrepresented, overlooked and undervalued in their fields.
Making Her Mark celebrates notable female artists from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day, with extraordinary works by Elizabeth Forbes, Laura Knight, Dod Procter, Caroline Walker, Tracey Emin and Wilhelmina Barns-Graham amongst many more.
This unique collaboration between three museums and galleries brings together over 50 works by women artists from their respective collections. The exhibition launches in Penlee House Gallery & Museum 29 April – 26 September 2026, moves to Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum 16 January – 13 June 2027 and ends in Fife, at Kirkcaldy Galleries 26 June – 28 November 2027.
As part of the programme each venue is working within their own communities with a particular focus on care experienced young people to encourage these groups to explore the individual collections and develop their own ideas for interpretation. As part of this programme the young people will have opportunities to collaborate online as well as be supported to visit of the exhibition at each location.
