Join Eilidh Weir (All That is BRAW) for a two-day mini quilt workshop celebrating the transition from winter to spring.
Across two sessions, we’ll explore the textures, colours and creatures of the spring garden, and learn how to translate these into a hand stitched quilted artwork using free form patchwork, appliqué and basic stitching. This is a space to celebrate the return of growth, connect with the land, and reframe waste materials into something beautiful, functional, and meaningful.
What to expect:
Day 1: Saturday 7 February, 10am-3pm. We will explore the garden at Forgan Arts Centre taking inspiration from fresh growth, and spend a little time drawing our findings and learning how to translate our ideas onto fabric. We will learn the different elements of a quilt and begin work on our quilt top, learning piecing, appliqué and embroidery.
Day 2: Sunday 8 February, 10am-3pm. We will finish our quilt top and go on to create the structure of our quilts with the batting and back layers. Eilidh will show how to make the soft squashy batting layer out of old clothes at the end of their life – making your quilt a true celebration of renewal. Finishing by binding our quilt and adding tabs for hanging.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
