The Halloween Hundred is a haunting 110km (70 miles) cycling event starting from Ladybank, Fife.
Flexible start times (0845-1000) and generous finishing time.
The Halloween Hundred is organised under the regulations of Audax UK, the UK's internationally recognised long distance cycling association. Audax rides are non-competitive, and the emphasis is on self-sufficiency and enjoyment. If you are looking to try this form of cycling or thinking about what it might be like to ride 200km (125 miles) or more, this event is a good starting point.
Riders will pick up their brevet cards from a The Bunker Cafe (Golf Inn) opposite Ladybank train station. The brevet cards are used to prove that riders have completed the route, and list the places where riders should get a sticker, a receipt or answer a question to prove they were in the location. Riders will get to the first checkpoint, and pick up a sticker (and snacks!). Riders will answer two questions at suitably Halloween-related locations. They then pass through Guardbridge and St Andrews and can stop at the cafes and shops in this area. At Crail, riders will pick up a shop receipt or similar as a 'proof of passage' before returning to Ladybank via New Gilston.
The entry fee includes a snack pack, and a soup and roll at The Golf Inn. There is a small surcharge for insurance for non-Audax UK members.
Please sign up in advance via the Audax website. Entries close on 16 October, or once the ride is fully subscribed. www.audax.uk/event-details/12620-halloween_hundred
Please note that Audax riders are expected to be self-sufficient, and the organiser provides no rescue service. You are expected to navigate yourself, using either the routesheet or a GPS track. If you are new to Audax, please read more on the website: www.audax.uk/about-audax/new-to-audax
This event was completed and enjoyed in 2023 and 2024 by people under the age of 18, supervised by a parent/guardian. Although it is 'suitable for children', it should be noted that it is for parents/guardians to determine whether their child has the skills, equipment and fitness to participate in a 110km/70 miles cycle ride in Scotland at this time of year.
Please see the Audax website and the parental consent form for details: www.audax.uk/media/2623/under-18-consent-form.pdf
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
