Born In The USA – A Powerful One-Man Play About Trauma and Populism

Set in Michigan, Autumn 2024, Born In The USA follows Vietnam veteran Jimmy Vandenburg, a retired Ford worker clinging to the past in the heart of the Rust Belt. Isolated and disillusioned, he’s drawn to Trump’s promise to “Make America Great Again”, but his political awakening threatens his marriage and forces him to confront old traumas.
Blending humour, heartbreak and political urgency, this critically acclaimed solo play explores how populist politics seduce the marginalised – and how personal reckoning can lead to redemption.
Praised with 4 and 5-star reviews in Edinburgh and London, Born In The USA is now touring the UK and coming to Glenrothes.
