Norrie “Tago” MacIver is the lead singer of Skipinnish, one of Scotland’s most celebrated folk bands. Known for his powerful voice and melodic flair, Norrie has brought his distinctive style to sold-out venues across the UK, including the Barrowlands and Usher Hall. His deep roots in Gaelic tradition shine through in every performance, earning him a dedicated fan base. Since joining Skipinnish in 2016, Norrie has contributed to two critically acclaimed albums: The Seventh Wave and Steer by the Stars.
Before his work with Skipinnish, Norrie was the lead singer of Mànran, a band that gained widespread attention with their debut single Latha Math, written by Norrie himself. The single sold over 5,000 copies in its first week on iTunes, and in 2011, Norrie was named Gaelic Singer of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. Mànran also won Album of the Year that year. With Mànran, Norrie toured the UK, Europe, and North America, gaining a reputation for his dynamic performances and unique voice.
A native of Carloway on the Isle of Lewis, Norrie is now based in Fife and is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Over his career, he has toured extensively across North America, Europe, Australia, and South Korea, establishing himself as one of the most versatile and accomplished voices in Gaelic music today.
