MaMa

Two Bharatanatyam dancers explore their journey as mothers, weaving intricate and evocative movements with an irrisistable blend of Celtic and Carnatic music.

About MaMa

This new, collaborative Bharatanatyam-based dance production explores themes of pregnancy and early motherhood. Combining Bharatanatyam (South Asian) dance vocabulary with a contemporary sensibility, two dancers explore, compare, and share their journeys as mothers. The performance is accompanied by originally composed music weaving together Celtic and Carnatic sounds.

The Project’s artistic development has been made possible by an award from Creative Scotland, who are supportive of the Company’s aim to raise the profile of and build audiences for South Asian dance in Scotland.

You may also be interested in the workshop, taking place in the afternoon of the same day at 2.00pm – FREE but please book: https://byretheatre.com/shows/mama-workshop/
