Line in the Sand Kirkcaldy

About Line in the Sand Kirkcaldy

Join us at Seafield Beach, Kirkcaldy to demand climate action at our Line in the Sand event at 12 noon on Friday 24th September.

Line in the Sand is a Fife-wide, participatory demonstration of the urgent need for action on the climate emergency and a powerful piece of climate art in the run up to the COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow. The date has been chosen to coincide with the Global Climate Strike organised by Fridays for the Future, and will also take place during Climate Fringe Week.

Attendees will literally form a line in the sand, running the length of Seafield Beach, to show their support for urgent climate action. The event invites the Kirkcaldy community to participate in a simple non-political action that will send a message to local, national and international Governments and create a legacy of empowerment and action. By forming a Line in the Sand participants will also symbolise climate driven rising sea-levels, which is an increasing threat to many Fife coastal communities.

Line in the Sand creates a time for reflection and call for local action whilst linking into a Fife wide programme of activities aimed at raising the alarm, creating a wave of personal action and linking to the Global Climate movement. The event is for anyone who is concerned about the climate emergency and who wants to draw attention to the urgent need for action.

Take Part
To take part in Line in the Sand Kirkcaldy, arrive at Seafield Beach picnic area between 11:45am -12 noon on 24th September (on foot or bike if possible). Please carry a placard with a climate message should you wish. For more information, visit the Climate Action Fife website or email craig@greenerkirkcaly.org.uk.

We will hear a call to action before heading to the beach to form our symbolic line. The event will finish with a challenge to take on one of the Big Five for Fife.

Line in the Sand is being delivered as part of Climate Action Fife, a National Lottery Community Fund partnership project between Greener Kirkcaldy, Fife Council, Fife College and Fife Communities Climate Action Network.
