In light of updated Scottish Government advice regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have taken the decision to close public access to our staffed properties and offices until further notice. All planned public events will also be postponed until further notice – full details of these can be found on our Events page in the coming days: historicenvironment.scot/whats-on.

In 2013, Scottish poet and novelist James Robertson wrote a short story every day of the year. Each story was 365 words, no more, no less.

Scottish fiddler and composer Aidan O’Rourke (of Lau) then matched the challenge. He wrote a new tune every day for a year in response to James’s stories.

This sound-art installation shares that work, allowing visitors to the story or tune of any chosen day – or both together.
