About Blues Concert

Music at the Mansion continues with a blues concert featuring Sir Peter and the Snowdrops, playing mainly folk blues. Join us for an evening of a music genre which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1870s by African Americans from roots in African musical traditions, African-American work songs, spirituals and the folk music of white Americans of European heritage.

Peter Erskine has been playing in folk clubs, pubs and a wide range of venues for over 50 years and on every continent. Recent venues range from a Perth blues club to a guest appearance with Nayo Jones in the 2018 New Orleans Jazz Festival.

The other two members of the trio are Ivins & Son. Hailing from Dumfries, Stu Ivins has had a long and varied career, and like Sir Peter has been playing music for over 50 years. When Luke Ivins was 14 he went to visit his dad who was living in Guernsey, where he learnt to play blues harmonica in a week. He and Stu teamed up to form Ivins and Son in the mid-90s.

The idea of the three of them playing together was inspired by the opening of the restored Cambo stables in 2017. They have since played regularly in the area and play in a number of National Trust for Scotland places.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Blues Concert are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment. All information (whether in text or photographs) is given in good faith but should not be relied upon as being a statement of representation or fact.
