About ‘Sha Raku En’

An exhibition inspired by the Japanese Garden at Cowden near Dollar opens at the Greengate Gallery in Culross at 7pm on Wednesday, 20th November.

The exhibition is entitled 'Sha Raku En', which translates as ‘The Place of Pleasure and Delight’ as it was named by its founder, Ella Christie, who described it as the garden of her dreams when it was first constructed back in 1908. The exhibition features a series of paintings by local artist, Janice Headrick, which capture the beauty and tranquility of this unique seven-acre site nestled in the Ochil Hills, now restored to its original glory and re-opened to the public.

To compliment the exhibition, Greengate Gallery owner, Lindsey Marchant, has created a new collection of silver jewellery inspired by the iconic Oriental lily pad, synonymous with Japanese garden design.

The exhibition launch starts at 7pm, while the Gallery will also be holding a Christmas Shopping Evening, with 10% off all purchases and drinks and nibbles.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for ‘Sha Raku En’ are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment. All information (whether in text or photographs) is given in good faith but should not be relied upon as being a statement of representation or fact.
