About John Miller and His Country Casuals featuring Miss Emma Nelson

Live Country Music

The UK’s “purest Country Singer” brings his Honky Tonk Merry Go Round to town with special guest Scotland’s very own “Rockabilly Filly” Miss Emma Nelson.
“John Miller is a traditional country singer; there are no gimmicks and no newfangled twists. If he can be dubbed alternative these days it’s because he cleaves to the verities, sure in the power and emotion of his own voice, and happy to make it’s setting the music of the honky-tonk, the western swing band, and the original Opry. Consequently, he’s the purest country singer practising his art on these islands, and the finest.” – Nick West, Bucketfull Of Brains

John Miller is taking his Country Casuals back on the road after a lengthy hiatus and they have chosen the Country Nights @ Leven for one of their first comeback shows. They are a 6 piece band from Glasgow playing a mix of mainly original Country Music in a 50s/60s style combining elements of Honky Tonk, Western Swing and Rockabilly.

John Miller has been performing and recording since the mid 1990s. First with Glasgow band Radio Sweethearts and later with his Country Casuals. He has released 5 albums and has written songs for Kate Rusby, Sheila Noonan and others. His music has been used for Film and TV and he was once voted Scottish Country Singer Of The Year by listeners to BBC Radio.

The band have appeared on both TV and Radio and have shared the stage with many top Country Americana artists including Dale Watson, Robbie Fulks, BR5-49, Laura Cantrell, The Mavericks and Townes Van Zandt.
